A Chinese New Year Special Performance will be held in in March 7^th in Toronto.

Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (SIBET), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is situated in Suzhou National New＆Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone(SND) by the picturesque Taihu Lake. In April 2008，Chinese Academy of Sciences, the government of Jiangsu Province and Suzhou municipal government signed “The Agreement of co-founding Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences”. On August 1st, 2008, Chinese Academy of Sciences commissioned Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics(CIOMP), which is known as “the cradle of the Chinese optics ”, to manage the operation of SIBET.
SIBET’s main research fields include medical instrumentation, medical materials and biological reagents. And its current R&D projects include laser medicine, biomedical measurement, medical imaging, biomedical electronics, artificial organs and biomaterials, biomedical reagents, etc.
SIBET is aiming to conduct world-class research in biomedical engineering, and meet the national demands for biomedical engineering technology. SIBET emphasizes independent innovative research, as well as interdisciplinary project and integration with related subjects. SIBET targets at establishing a distinctive and renowned institute characterized by innovative R＆D, high-tech industrialization and personnel training in the area of biomedical engineering, through which it can contribute its special competence to the local economic growth and the development of national biomedical engineering technology.

1. The Hundred Talents Program
The Hundred Talents Program launched by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is a talent initiative to publicly recruit outstanding young S&T talents within the country and abroad. All positions of the Hundred Talents Program positions are reserved for CAS Innovative Researchers. The appointment system will be adopted for the program, with the appointment term being three years as a rule. All enrolled candidates shall work full time.
(1) Research fields required:
Laser medicine, medical imaging, biomedical reagents, biomedical electronics, artificial organs, biomedical materials, science of biomedical measurement related.
(2) The application requirements for 100-talents Program are:
　 (a) Doctorate degree, under the age of 45;
　 (b) More than 4 years of overseas research experience after getting the doctorate degree, and got assistant professor and above, or equivalent positions in institutions overseas;
　 (c) Independently managed or participated as a key contributor to project(s) and made significant achievements;
　 (d) Being considerably influential in the academic areas both domestic and abroad, having obtained deep academic attainments at international level in his own disciplinary area, ability to integrate and lead one team to execute key project and make marked innovation achievement, or to preside key engineering project;
　 (e) Published several papers with certain impact in the important core journals, or held the knowledge of key technology, or important patent;
　 (f) Team cooperation spirit, academic moral, accountability, honesty, innovative.
　
(3) Offer package
(a) Each enrolled candidate will receive not less than RMB 700 thousand for research funding, along with research and office premises. After 12 months for work in the institute, can applying for the funding from Knowledge Innovation Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the support will be RMB 2 million;
(b) Each enrolled candidate will be titled as CAS Innovative Researchers and be offered more than 100 square meters of housing to live by free of charge;
(c) Each enrolled candidate has priority to be recommended to provincial and local talents support plans;
(d) Each enrolled candidate will be supported by staffing of assistants and students and assignment of laboratory according to the actual requirement;
(e) In addition to salaries, welfare benefits and medical care as required by the government, there are also such benefits as position allowances and housing subsidies.

(2) Position: Research Fellow and Research Associate
Each applicant is required to have a strong record of scientific accomplishments. Managerial experience in a major research project would be highly desirable. He will:(a) provide scientific leadership by developing new projects that use state-of-the-art expertise to serve national needs; or (b) provide strong assistance for other talents’ research and development programs.
(3) Offer package
(a) In addition to competitivesalaries, welfare benefits and medical care as required by the government, there are also such benefits as position allowances and housing subsidies;
(b) Be recommended to provincial and local talents support plans;
(c) Be supported by projects funding and related equipment, staffing of assistants and students and assignment of laboratory according to the actual requirement.
